Intingo-Ultima Spiaggia

Two labels connected by the name of their founder, the singer/composer/producer Ricky Gianco, very popular as solo artist in Italy during the 60's and then particularly active as talent scout in the later decade.
Gianco's idea was to create an independent label aimed at promoting minor groups and solo artists having an original style and a high quality. Though both labels needed a major company distribution to live, they produced some interesting albums during their short lives.
Though only marginally connected with progressive music, they deserve a small place here.

Intingo was founded in 1972 by Gianco himself, but the first record arrived in 1974, the debut LP by Alberomotore. The production kept going until 1978 under Ricordi distribution.

Ultima Spiaggia (this was also the name of the first album produced on this label) was founded in 1974 by Gianco along with Nanni Ricordi and Gianfranco Manfredi (photographer Cesare Monti entered later), and began releasing records in 1975, under the RCA distribution. This label has a longer life and wider production that the other.

INTINGO
A varied and limited production (just 10 LP's), the only progressive release on this label was the album by Alberomotore, that had been previously (in a very limited quantity) issued on the Car Juke Box label. Also interesting for the unconventional music fan can be the albums by Canzoniere del Lazio, strongly inspired by traditional folk music from southern Italy, but rearranged with a progressive feel.

Albums had ZLUS + 5 digit catalogue number (since 1976-77 it became ZPLS), singles had ZUS + 5 digit numbers (later ZBS), following the same numbering sequence as other RCA subsidiaries like Help, Mimo, Apollo, Delta and Numero Uno.
Promo labels exist in both grey/white and green colour.
